This 8- Bit Monogram design focuses on inverting black and white forms to create the letterforms by breaking down the letterforms into simple forms and played with contrast from the top and bottom letterforms. The contrast was my main inspiration for creating this typeface and helped me ideate the structures to play and mess around with basic forms of type.

The letterform of R and word were created by anaylizing the features and form of the R and translating those forms onto different letters and creating a system. I chose the word Rink and made the type bigger then the original. While anaylizing the forms, this project achieved understanding of traits within letterforms. This allowed me to visualize patterns and how to apply them within type.

The Sequential Type Design features the word “Redemption” and the following figure and ground relationships of similar type. I choose redemption as the word to me felt strong and did a 2-tone green pallete that also switches foreground and background color. I wanted to make the figure and ground solutions flow between another, my goal was to make the tiles with flow between each other. This allowed me to visual  how to formulate new type forms, while also allowing me to apply a system aswell.

    Festival Poster Fold: Snowattack 2026

This project was the Festival Poster Fold and I did “Snowattack”. This festival was an european electronics dance that took place on the snow and ice. I was inspired by the colder region and the snow sport culture. I aimed to make this bold and expresive while reinforcing the colder environment in the area. Our goal was to manage space between a coverpage and 4-way fold page. The colors were designed and placed to help each page flow nicely when viewed and guid the viewer to important information. This project allowed me to create eyecatching design while also communication information.

This layout is “What is Sleep?” and is inspired by the scholarly-like article format on the website. I accomplished this design with bold pictures and coloring along the page using a simple 3-column format. I wanted to make the tone of the page dramatic as the images used were eyecatching, by using color and framing I wanted to get a different view on sleep. I also wanted a larger header and wanted to make the top of the page included with more elements. I included my own illustrations to insert more imagery, but trying not to compete with the other images. This project helped me improve my formatting and showed me different ways to integrate images/text into a design page.

For this concept, I wanted to incorperate ornamental type and create forms that were fluid and similar to letter forms of Thai characters. The name “Tuk-Tuk Drip” was inspired by a Thai rickshaw and are often decorated in bright colors. These elements were my main inspiration into creating a bright design aswell as using forms for decoration. I used techniques such as the combination of letterforms and type to create the design features around the box. My goal with this was to create a design that was inspired by these cultural elements and put together to create a product. This assignment showed me what the design process of creating a logo and brand identity looked like and how to create one.

    Charcoal Drawing: Tools

This was a project within my drawing studio and is one my works I find appealing. I am really into big contrast and I find this most appealing within the tools and how I recapture the light hitting the tools. I wanted to achieve a sense of touch and feel with the tools that I feel has successfully transferred over. I hope to accomplish more artworks that feature fun contrasts and uses of textures. I want to apply more features like this within my digital design.

This is a portrait image featuring a person in the middle with very heavy wind blowing their features such as hair and clothes. My concept with this picture was to showcase the connection of people and nature by placing people outside and photographing them with the natural wind. This is a theme I have taken multiple photos for and is one of my favorite concept when taking and composing photographs. I always try to put intention within the photos I take to create a composition that is interesting and more dynamic. I want to apply similar intentions with composition into my digital work.

My name is Michael Thaseethong and I enjoy activities like exploring and photographing nature. I like to draw with different physical mediums and apply regular illustrative elements into my work. Experimenting with new things in design is the most enjoyable part to me and trying new ways to create a design.  I am especially interested in applyling my tradition art skills into my digital design.
